Juniata boys blank Tyrone by 10

Juniata’s offense sizzled from beginning to end on Saturday as the boys soccer team shut out Tyrone 10-0.

Will Saner led the Indians as he finished with five goals an two assists on the afternoon to lead his team to the double-digit victory.

Saner led things off with a goal at the 28:05 mark. His goal came on an assist by Bryce Rush.

Rush would find the goal himself minutes later as he blasted an unassisted goal into the Eagles’ net.

As the clock dropped to 12:22 Henry Rivas found his way onto the scorebook thanks to an assist by Saner.

At 11:51, Saner finished off the first half scoring, making it a a 4-0 lead at the intermission.

“A great team effort from everyone on the field today. Will Saner had a very special day. Tyrone is a very young team with a small roster, but I respect the fact that they played hard until the end of the game,” said Juniata coach Jared Byler. “I believe Tyrone will be a talented and difficult team to play in the next two or three years.”

In the second half the Indians wasted little time as Saner found Rush and Rush did the rest, upping it to a 5-0 contest.

Saner took care of the next three goals on assists by Rivas(2) and Brant Walters.

Rounding out the Juniata goals were

Gunner Glick and Ty Shellenber.

Juniata dominated in shots on goals by a 16-0 deficit while leading 6-1 in corner kicks.
