Juniata falls late to tough Selinsgrove team, 17-14

Friday night the Juniata football team traveled to hostile territory, playing against the legendary Selinsgrove Seals.

Things started out well for the Indians posting two scores in the first half to go up 14-0 at the intermission.

However, the Seals battled their was back the the second half while holding the Indians off the scoreboard on offense.

In the first quarter, Waylon Ehrenzeller muscled it in from two yards out. With the Brant Walters kick at 7:42, the Indians led 7-0.

The Juniata defense played tough and helped the team pick up its next score.

Ehrenzeller hit paydirt once again as he scored on his second 2-yard run As the Walters PAT went through the uprights, Juniata had a 14-0 lead with 2:45 left in the second.

After the intermission ended, Selinsgrove went right to work, sending it through the air.

Seals’ receiver Nick Rice scored on a  63-yard pass from Gavin Bastian. With the Carter Young kick at 10:20, Selinsgrove was just a score away from knotting the game at 14.

Midway through the third, Selinsgrove had to go it’s kicking as the Seals’Young nailed a 36 -yard field goal with 6:36 left in the third.

Juniata held Selinsgrove down to the final minutes of the game.

However, Selinsgrove had just enough time to snatch the victory away from the Indians.

Gavin Bastian muscled in a  1-yard run to take the lead. With the Young kick, the Seals took the lead for the first time with 1:25, en route to the win.
