Juniata Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams Win TVL Titles. Houtz Champ again

For the 4th straight year in a row, the Juniata boys cross country team took home the TLV title beating out Susquenita 27 – 28. “He knew it was going to be tough to repeat this year without the top notch runner Garrett Baublitz on the team, but the boys came to run and keep the trophy at Juniata.  It was a total team effort”, said  Coach Jeff Miller.

The top five boys for Juniata also placed as individual award winners.  Senior James Hazard placed 2nd overall with a time of 19:31, with teammate Micah Fausey finishing right behind in 3rd place with a time of 20:39.  Next for the Indians was Tim Kelly in 5th place with a time of 21:02.  Other award winners were Brody Powell 8th place – 22:11 and Yadiel Nieves-Aguirrre – 13th – 23:09.  Noah Sheaffer finished 19th with a time of 25:40.  The overall winner was Michael Singley from Susquenita with a time of 18:58.

The Juniata girls cross country team won the TVL title for the first year beating out Susquenita 27 – 28.  “The girls ran their hearts out today”, Coach  Miller said.  Junior Emily Houtz defended her overall title winning for the third year in a row with a time of 24:51.  Coach Miller said “Emily ran with guts and determination on this very difficult Susquenita course and she should be very proud of herself.”  

Senior Katie Hart also made the award stand, placing 14th with a time of 31:05.  Other Juniata girl finishers were Elizabeth Gaisior 16th – 31:27, Rachel Fisher 18th – 32:13, and Peyton Sheaffer 19th – 32:34.
