The Juniata boys cross country team had four of their top five runners competing in their first cross country race.  The only experienced runner competing for the Indians was Senior Micah Fausey.  Junior Logan Strawser finished 2nd overall with a time of 16:17, but was first in the AA class.  He was followed by freshman Wyatt Stroup 17th in a time of 18:11.  Shortly after freshman Joey Bomberger finished in 20th in a time of 18:40.  Senior Micah Fausey placed 39th in a time of 20:26.  Rounding out the Indians five person team was freshman Charlie Telfer in 63rd in a time of 24:00.  Juniata Coach Jeff Miller was super impressed with his inexperienced team.  “Logan ran a smart patient race up front.  To run a 16:17 in his first cross country race ever is almost unheard of.”  Wyatt and Joey ran great for their first cross country races.  They were the top two freshman in the race.”  Miller said “he is excited for his young team.  They are a hard working group of kids that will do anything you ask of them.”
On the girls side, the Juniata Indians only had two girls competing in the race.  They were senior Emily Houtz finishing 24th in a time of 25:05 and Senior Joceline Telfer in 50th place with a time of 38:52.  Coach Jeff Miller said “Emily and Joceline ran well considering all the more hard workouts I have given them so far this season.  They will continue to improve as we get into more race specific workouts.”
