Lady Rams top Huntingdon in weekend showdown

In a Saturday Mountain League match up, Penns Valley went up against Huntingdon in girls soccer action.

In the end, the Lady Rams muscled out a 2-0 victory.
“Today was a hard fought game all around by both teams.  I thought our midfield was excellent today.  Abby Stitzer was everywhere.  About 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water, the rest was covered by Abby today.  Our attacking trio of Ceci Falls, Cate Goodwin and Scotty Dinges led the line well and were a consistent threat.  Cate made some great runs and finished two chances to give us the lead. And strong performances from Paige Dobson, Bekah Gillespie, Chamiqua Gentzel and Noelle Webb kept things secure for us in the back, said Penns Valley coach Andrew Beverly. “But every game in the league is tough so we have to go straight to focusing on Monday’s game at P-O.”

Cate Goodwin had both Penns Valley goals

Goodwin’s first came off an assist by Anna Bressler at 32:33.

Her second came in the second when Goodwin hit thanks to a pass from Ceci Falls at 50:47.

Penns Valley outshot Huntingdon 18-7 and also in corners by a 5-3 mark.

Penns Valley goalie Noelle Webb tallied five saves while Huntingdon’s Simone Bilich had 12.

Penns Valley’s record is now 2-3, (1-3 in the Mt League).  Their next game is on Monday at Philipsburg-Osceola.
