Late scoring leads to Kish Victory!

MCVEYTOWN – Despite the tough weather conditions, both teams gave it their all but ultimately it was the Kish Indians defeating the McVeytown Eagles 13-0 in Peewee football action Sunday afternoon.
The rain was pouring and was the action as throughout the first half, both McVeytown and Kish were proven to be very tough on defense.
However, late in the opening quarter, Kish pulled off a big run near the endzone. But then when it became the second quarter, the momentum seemed to shift as the Eagles completely grounded the Kish offense and forced turnover on downs to complete the goal line stand.
With just under two minutes remaining in the first half, the Eagles were picking up some steam offensively before the Indians forced a fumble that secured the score at zero apiece heading into the break.
The third quarter was pretty much like the first half with the rain coming down even harder and both defense refusing to allow any big plays from each other’s respected offenses.
Then finally during the fourth quarter of the game, Kish managed to break the stalemate as Wyatt Hassinger broke loose and ran for 19 yards for the touchdown giving the Indians a 6-0 lead with just 9:16 remaining. The Eagles’ defense prevented the extra point.
Kish then put on the finishing touches to the game as quarterback Duke Peachey hustled his way down the sideline and punched in a 35 yard touchdown run. Hassinger then scored on the extra point to make it 13-0.
McVeytown continued to battle within the final minutes of the game but struggled to get past the Kish defense.
Kish also won in the Mighty Mites game by the final score of 7-1.
Kish will hit the road on Tuesday as they will travel to face Juniata. Meanwhile McVeytown will be back home Wednesday night as they will host Derry Decatur. Both games will be at 6 p.m.
