MC 13s fall to tough Atlantic Coast team in Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic title game

What a road they have paved out for themselves in this post season.

Despite losing 8-0 to Atlantic Shore, New Jersey in the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Championship title tilt Tuesday, the Mifflin County 13-year-old All-Stars showed their offensive prowess and never say die attitude all throughout the tournament trail.

Even a 14-inning marathon contest which saw the Mifflin County kids down 4-0, couldn’t keep them from capturing a spot in the championship game the night before.

The Mifflin County 13s we’re back in action less than a day after that 14-inning marathon. Today they versed a tough Atlantic Shore, New Jersey in title tilt.

Logan Ruth took to the mound to start for Mifflin County.

He doubled to start the top of the second. Nate Parkes made it first with a single.

But the Mifflin County 13s were not able to get any across in the inning, sending it to the bottom of the inning tied, 0-0.

Defensively, Mifflin County continued to keep things in control in the second as they held the Atlantic Coast scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

The game remained scoreless in the third, sending the game into the fourth inning with both teams unscathed on defense.

Despite getting runners on in the fourth, the Atlantic Coast continued to keep “the Blue and White” from plating any runners either.

Atlantic Shore scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the inning, plating four in their at bats.

Trailing 4-0 going into the fifth, the Mifflin County bats remained relatively quiet.

New Jersey continued to add more runs in the fifth, scoring four to up its lead to 8-0.

Going into their final two at bats, the Mifflin County’s offense ran out of gas but not without a valiant effort after such a short turnaround.
