Mifflin boys XC keeps it close but falls to Altoona

Mifflin County boys’ cross country fell to Altoona Wednesday afternoon in Reedsville, 22-33.

Chris Royer (4th), CJ Coffey (5th), Caden Bell (7th), Cody Fultz (8th) and Ben Hartzler (9th) all finished in the top 10 but it wasn’t enough to prevent Altoona from securing the win.

“We ran against Altoona at the Big Valley Invitational and we knew we would have our hands full.”  Luke Breneman, Max Laudermilch and Styers Oden had season best times. “Steyers knocked over a minute off his previous best.“  “Despite the loss most of the boys ran well,” said Mifflin County coach Greg Loht. “We actually closed the scoring gap from BVI. We will meet Altoona in three weeks at Districts. Hopefully we can turn things around then.”

MC XC travels to Gettysburg Invitational Saturday.

With the loss, Mifflin County drops to 2-5.
