LOCK HAVEN – The Fall foliage was beautiful, weather was fantastic, and plenty of fast runners checked in for the Lock Haven Middle School Championships. The winner of the 2 mile girls race was Dallastown’s Sophia Rodriguez at a blazing time of 10:42. The conditions were ideal and the flat course set up the meet for fast completions by the 77 girls that competed.

Mifflin County’s leader, Abigail Anderson set a career best time coming across the finish line at 14:02. Irelynn Milligan was second for MC posting a nice improvement from her last competition in Gettysburg coming in at 15:03, also a career record. Bailey Bishop (15:21) and Kasey Varner (15:46) did not miss out on the record setting day either as they posted PR’s.
“Each of these girls have experienced the value of hard work, discipline, and training which has transformed them over the season. For our beginners they started the season only running about 1/2 mile before needing to walk. When I invite others to consider running cross country I often hear the response, “running is just not my thing” or “I can’t run distance”. These girls have proven that everyone can get stronger and build incredible confidence in the process of doing that,” said MIfflin County coach Neil Breneman. “I am super proud of them for sticking with it throughout the season. Today’s meet was a great way to end the Junior High regular season.”
