Mount Union tops Jacks Mtn 12Us in opening morning game of MC 12Us,

GRANVILLE – In the opening Saturday game of the MIfflin County 12U tournament the Mount Union Trojans topped a scrappy Jacks Mountain team 14-1.

Picking up the win for the Trojans was Aiden Hamman-Briggs. Briggs went two innings of scoreless pitching en route to the victory.

Jacks Mountain’s Lone run came from Jack McHail.

McHail blasted a screaming over the right field fence and scoreboard.

Mount Union opened the game with its bats a blazing scoring four runs in the first two innings.

Patience was a virtue for the Trojans as Lahden Brown scored its first one in the first via a walk, stolen base and then scored on an error.

Defensively, Jacks Mountain kept the damage to a minimum executing a picture perfect double play.

Defensively, Mount Union played tough, keeping Jacks Mtn. Off the scoreboard in the first two innings.

In the second, Ty Hooper led off things for the Trojans with a single to right.

Hamman-Briggs reached on a walk.

Wade Sheeder ended out the scorers in the inning, giving his team the comfortable lead.

Again, Hamman-Briggs kept the Jacks Mtn. Offense off track, despite a hit from Wyatt Parks.

Mount Union doubled its lead in the third inning, extending the lead to 8-0 before McHails powering home run cut it to a 7-run advantage.

But in the fifth, the already sizzling Mount Union bats stepped it game up for six runs on four hits to take the contest 14-1 in fifth.
