Numerous milestones were achieved in PO boys basketball team’s historic season

PHILIPSBURG – It was a banner year for the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties boys basketball team this season. Under the guidance of head coach TJ Anderson, the Mounties had numerous milestones they achieved with many more to come.

“We had an amazing season this year but the best is yet to come,” said Anderson. “We truly helped to rewrite our history books. “

Here is the list of accomplishments that the team set.

1. First time going 11-7 in the season since 1976 Season

2. First time to be ranked #2 in District 6 AAA Boys Basketball

3. First Time hosting their 1st D6 Playoff Game

4. 1st Winning a D-6 Playoff Game in 24 years (1996 Mountie Team)

5. 1st Time having a 1,000 point score since 1999 (David Majeski)

6. 1st Time in 15 years that Philipsburg-Osceola beat these teams at home or away and or in the same season.

(Huntingdon, Penns Valley, Clearfield, Bellefonte)

7. The First Time in over 20 years the Mounties finished 4th in the Mt League.

8. 1st Time a Mountie Boy’s Team went 11-7 starting 2-sophomores, 1-Freshmen, 2-Jr’s and a Senior

9. 1st Time Po had a 1st Team Mountain League All Star and a 2nd Team Mountain League All Star in the same year in over 20 years  (Jeremy and Ryan Whitehead)
