On fire; the Juniata girls post six second half goals in win over Suquenita

MIFFLINTOWN – After a first half that saw the Juniata girls’ soccer team holding a slim 2-1 advantage, the Lady Indians came out scorching the goal in the second half as they posted six goals in the period, winning going away 8-2.

Juniata once again got a strong offensive effort by forward Ashlyn Pannebaker who notched five of her team’s seven goals en route to the 6- goal victory.

Early on in the first, Pannebaker got the ball on the run, put a spin move on her defender and blasted one past the Susquenita goalkeeper for the score.

As the first half wound down to the 11-minute mark, Victory Frantz helped put her team up by two, posting a goal at 10:55.

With eight minutes left, Susquenita cut it to one.

After the halftime intermission, the Indians put it into full gear as they opened with another Pannebaker goal, this time it was at 37:15.

Four minutes later, Pannebaker was back in the scorebooks thanks to an assist by Nyla Pannebaker at 36:13.

The duo would hook up on a score minutes later as Nyla Pannebaker found Ashlyn wide open for yet another goal.

As the game continued to wind down, teammate Katey Martin scored off of a free kick opportunity, upping to a 6-1 advantage.

Pannebacker made it a 7-1 lead, posting an unassisted goal at 23:41.

Susquenita scores just seconds later.

But Juniata would get the last laugh as Liseth Montoya put the game on ice with a goal with just under 20 minutes left in the game.
