Penns Valley boys soccer team outlasts Central in 2-1 thriller

Rams Notch First Win

The Penns Valley boys soccer team notched its first win of the season topping Central 2-1.

“Hats off to Central because they are not the team they used to be and easily could have come out on top tonight. What a gut wrenching match though. We have played three matches so far,” said Penns Valley coach Brian Markle. “Tonight we ended up putting together and played a FULL match. Controlling the possession and playing simple. Creating opportunities in the attack. Defending like we know how. Penns Valley kept from making costly mistakes.

“To play 80 minutes is one thing, but to go into double overtime is another. Close to 100 minutes of soccer was played.  We talk everyday about the will to prepare,” said Markle. “Tonight was about the will to win. The mentality to finish the ball in the back of the net. We did just that. “I am very happy for these guys”! This isn’t my win, this is OUR win. We will enjoy this and move forward.”
