Penns Valley notches another win; blanks PO

Penns Valley extended their win streak to six games with a shutout at home against Philipsburg on Wednesday, October 14. After coming off a hat trick performance on Monday night, Senior Michael Johnson added 2 goals and 3 assists in another stellar performance for the Rams.

“Dennis (Michael Johnson) is simply one of the best players in the Mountain League,” said Rams coach Ken Gore. “He is quick and fast and can finish like a pro. And he has one speed – 100%!”

Seniors Zach Heckman (2 goals) and Caleb Narber (2 assists) also added to the dominance of the Rams attack with deft passing and finishing to get behind the P-O defense time and again during the match. Junior midfielder Aidan Culver added the “what-did-I-just-see?!” goal of the match by beating the keeper with his heel from a few yards on a loose ball off a corner kick.

“For some reason – maybe because of the delays at the beginning – we got off to a slow start this season – but we’re really hitting our stride now at a critical time. We continue to elevate our play each match – and I am extremely proud of every guy on this team for sticking together and putting in the teamwork, diligence, and discipline to get to this point,” said Gore. “We will keep going hard and smart and see where we end up after our last regular season match next week. It’s an exciting time to be a part of PV Boys soccer!”
