PO outlasts PV in Mountain League softball battle

Thursday night the Penns Valley softball team and Philipsburg-Osceola battled in a Mountain League game played at PO.

The Lady Mounties gutted out a 8-6 decision.

Winning pitcher Karissa Taylor finished with seven strikeouts, six walks and two hit batters.

Kendra Bumgardner took the loss despite an eight strikeouts performance. She allowed three walks and one hit batter.

Despite trailing early 5-0, the Lady Rams battled back with a run in the third, two in the fourth and then fell behind 8-3 6 going into the seventh. They were able to cut the Mounties lead to two but PO sealed the deal.

Leading the offense was Allie O’Brien (home run, run scored, RBI, stolen base), Avery Dinges (2 stolen bases, run scored), Kendra Bumgardner (stolen base), Kailen Winkelblech (run scored), Noelle Webb (2 singles, 2 runs scored, RBI), Ellie Coursen (single, run scored) and Avelyn Van Heyst – double, 2 RBIs.
