PV girls XC team tops PO, Bellefonte in home meet

This afternoon in Spring Mills the Penns Valley Cross Country teams hosted the Philipsburg Osceola Mounties and the Bellefonte Raiders.  The heat and humidity made it more than a race against the clock as the athletes battled it out.

The Penns Valley girls beat PO by the score of 28-29 and beat Bellefonte by the score of 21-35.  PO beat Bellefonte 19-42.

“Today the younger girls stepped up and did what they needed to do to secure the win over Bellefonte and PO,” said Penns Valley coach Lynda Federinko. “Anna Stitzer ran a remarkable race nearly breaking the course record and Alexis Durn fought through an injury to secure the second spot.”

On the boys side Penns Valley fell to Bellefonte 50-15 and also to PO 50-15.  The Bellefonte boys beat PO 22-39.

“McClain Reamer is running very consistently for a new runner and continues to lead the team,” said Federinko.
