State College girls post ninth consecutive D6 crown

Not one, not two, not three, but nine! The State College girls soccer team continue its domination of the District 6 Class AAA division as it once again came out the victors of the title.
This time it was their arch rival, Altoona that became the victim as the Little Lions pulled out a close contest of 2-0.
Despite a first half, the Little Lions kept knocking at the Altoona door but the game remained scoreless despite the dominating offensive play by State College’s offense.
Altoona was not able to establish long drives into the Little Lions’ back-third but they were far and few between.
However, went the intermission got underway, the two remained scoreless.
State College came out in the second half and went right to the heart of the Mountain Lions’ defense.
Altoona’s defense seemed to be weathering the storm well after the first five minutes. The Mountain Lions defense seemed to be impenetrable.
However, State College got the break they needed at the 17:59 mark of the contest as the Lions went ahead.
Mackenzie Graham’s blast past the Altoona goalie put her team ahead 1-0.
State College went back on the hunt for another goal. After battling for most of the rest of the game, the Little Lions were able to breathe a little easier when Graham got it through one last time when she scored on a penalty kick to put the game on ice, 2-0.
