Wrangle in the Wild lll adds to its growing legacy

LEWISTOWN – Adding to the tradition.

For the past three years, the local wrestling scene has been watching what has been a date that is circled on the calendar as soon as its date is announced.

This year, the Hidlay brothers (Hayden and Trent) along with Joey Bender presented Wrangle in the Wild lll.

Once again, the past, present and future wrestlers were on hand to showcase their talents and give fans an August taste of mat action.

In the youth class, the meet had two female wrestlers going toe-to-toe. With the implementation of Girls wrestling into the PIAAs, fans were watching the future of the sport.

Before the matches began, members of the Chief Logan wrestling fraternity that helped shaped the road for what is now a legendary MIfflin County wrestling program.

In the end, it would be the Roofraisers that would defeat Hammertime time 42-15.

In the main event of the evening, Roofraisers Noah Stewart topped Matt Kocher in dramatic fashion scoring back points in the final seconds after trailing 4-3, taking a 7-4 victory for the win.

The Roofraisers got off to a strong start as Levi Boreman led off with a pin. Teammate Tanner Ingle followed with one of his own.

Brayan Aurand picked up a 4-3 victory over Brian Albert.

Imani Newsome picked up a win over Kylinn Swineford.

Adin Thorpe outlasted Hammertime’s Andrew Weaver 8-2.

Brooks Burdick kept the shut out in tact, topping Kaden Knouse in a thrilling 2-0 victory.

However, Hammertime’s Jasper Ocker lll got his team on the board, posting a 10-3 win over Hayden Crum, 30-3.

Teammate Adam Stout topped Zach Hays in overtime.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Roofraisers led 30-6.

Picking up the first win after the intermission was Ryder Heimbach as he added to the lead with a 4-0 win over Tyler Feltman.

In the battle of the sibling rivalry, Josh Boozel defeated brother Jake Boozel 6-5, adding to the Roofraisers lead at 36-6.

Taylor Smith gave the Roofraisers another win picking up a 4-2 decision over Nic Wilcox.

Kross Todaro put team Hammertime back on the scoreboard outlasting Blaine Davis in a 1-0 overtime decision over Blain Davis.

Hunter Johnson made it two-in-a-row for Hammertime as he topped Bryce Beatty 6-3 to make it a 39-12.

Nick Reenan finished off the scoring for Hammertime, topping Jacob Ferreira in a close 2-0 decision.

In the final match of the night, Stewart found himself trailing early on but battled back to capture the dramatic win and closing the books on what was once again an exciting exhibition of wrestling setting the bar higher for Wrangle in the Wild llll .
