Bald Eagle brings home the Juniata Duals title

MIFFLINTOWN – It was a clean sweep.

The Bald Eagle Area wrestling team traveled to Juniata High School Saturday and came home winners of both the Varsity and Junior High tournaments.

The varsity defeated West Perry, Juniata and Selinsgrove teams to capture the title.

In Junior High action, the Eagles took care of Selinsgrove and MIfflin County in their trek to the title.

In the Eagles match against West Perry, Bald Eagle muscled out a hard fought 35-31 contest.

The Eagles notched its first win of the match at 145. Jeffre Pifer pinned Tucker Seidel at 3:00.

Bald Eagle got back into the scoring column at 172. Caleb Close dominated his match against Quade Boden taking the 15-0 tech fall at 4:09.

It was a quick win for Bald Eagle at 189. Noah Foltz pinned Kaleb Cordell at 0:28.

In the heavyweight division, 285-pounder Matthew Knepp escaped with a close 2-1 decision over Loyal Carver.

106-pounder Gavin Guenot captured a forfeit win.

At 113, Lucas Fye also notched the easy win with a forfeit.

Coen Bainey sealed the deal for the Eagles as he outlasted Jackson Rush for the nail biting 2-0 victory.

Bald Eagle Area had its best match of the day against Juniata posting a 50-11 victory.

At 120, Coen Bainey (BEAH) topped Casey Smith by a 4-2 decision.

132-pounder Kevin Taylor pinned Daniel Painter at 3:11.

At 138 the Eagles notched wins its first of three consecutive forfeit victories.

Jeffre Pifer took the first. Tayten Yoder, at 145, was next while at 152, Gavin Bennett picked up his own.

It would be a quite a battle for the Eagles at 160. Bald Eagle’s Cameron Dubbs muscled out a 3-2 decision over Josh Bomberger.

Caleb Close, at 172, blanked Harrison Mummah via tech fall in a 16-0 victory at 3:21.

189-pounder Noah Foltz blanked Lane Peiper also by tech fall, 15-0 at 2:56.

At 106, Gavin Guenot shut out Joey Bomberger by a major decision, 10-0.

Bald Eagle took the easy win at 113 when Lucas Fye raised his hand for the forfeited victory.

Bald Eagle defeated Selinsgrove 50-27 in their contest.

Bald Eagle notched its first win at 172 when Caleb Close dominated his match against Ethan  Miller as he blanked his opponent by tech fall, 15-0.

At 189, Noah Foltz topped Tucker Teats 10-2 in a Major decision.

In the heavyweight division, at 285, Matthew Knepp notched the pin fall over Elijah  Easton at 2:35.

Lucas Fye took the 113-pound weight class with a pin over Nathan  at 1:45.

Coen Bainey, at 120, lifted his hand with a forfeit win, giving his team an easy six points.

At 126, Hunter Gardner blanked Leo Martinez in an 11-0 major decision.

132-pounder Kevin Taylor pinned Ryan Gavason at 3:19.

Jeffre Pifer, at 145,won an exciting 10-8 victory over Garrett  Paradis.
