Centre County teams open track season at Igloo Invitational

ALTOONA – After an almost two year absence, the Centre County track and field season was “back on track”.

Saturday at Altoona’s Mansion Park, local teams Bald Eagle Area, Penns Valley and Saint Joseph’s Academy hit the ground running, jumping and throwing.

Bald Eagle Area had a strong day out in the sunny and 70-degree weather.

Sarah Holler led the way with a second in the shot put (37’2”), the discus (92’ 8”) and Javelin (98’ 6”).

Rounding out the strong girls finish was Abby Hoover in the javelin with 98’4”.

On the boys’ side, Zeb Fry finished in third place with a launch of 146’ 8”.

Own Irvin finished fifth in the Triple (40’10”) and a sixth place in the 100-meter run with a time of 11.91.

Everett Herr rounded out the top finishers with an 8th place in the High Jump (5′ 6”).


Penns Valley also made the most of their time at the “Igloo”.

On the girls’ side, PV’s Leah Beben finished 8th in the Girls 200 Meter Dash(28.56), the girls high jump Beben took the top spot at 5-00.00.

The Rams boys team were led by

Boys 1600 Meter Run winner Brendon Colwell (4:28.85) and 800 Meter Runner up (2:03.91).

In the Girls 800 Meter Run

Anna Stitzer finished second (2:30.52) while Abigail Stitzer finished third (2:33.48).

In the Girls 1600 Meter Run, Anna Stitzer finished first (5:15.14). Teammates Kelsey Hull finished second (5:16.60) and Alexis Durn (5:55.35) rounded things out with a seventh place finish (5:55.35).

In the Girls 3200 Meter Run, Kelsey Hull finished second. (11:57.48)

Amber Royer finished 10th in the Girls Shot Put with a top throw of 29-08.50.

In the Boys 100 Meter Dash Michah Good finished 10th with a time of 12.18.

Good also finished sixth in the 400 (53.59).

Thad Smith finished seventh in the Boys 3200 Meter Run(10:35.17).

The Boys 4×100 Meter Relay team finished fifth with a time of 47.55.


Rounding out things was the Wolves of Saint Joseph’s Academy.

Starting with the Girls 1600 Meter Run, Evelyn Reynolds finished with a 6:10.41.

In the Girls 3200 Meter Run, Camryn Eby finished sixth with a time of 12:55.68.

Teammate Amber Fisher finished eighth with a 13:13.39 while Brandi Carmack rounded things out with a 10th place time of 13:27.46.

Clare Marsh finished in the top spot in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles (16.87).

Marsh also took the top spot in the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.90.

Teammate Madi Mazza finished with a 10th place time of 46.90.

In the Girls 4×400 Meter Relay, the Wolves finished eighth with a time of 4:43.75.

The Saint Joseph’s Academy Girls 4×800 Meter Relay team placed fourth with a time of 10:57.51.

On the Boys side, in the 400 Meter Dash Jonah Clark finished fifth with a time of 53.30.

In Boys 800 Meter Run, Josh Hershbine placed third with a finishing time of 2:08:36.

In 10th place Brendan Scanlon, tallied a time of 2:15.61.

Colin Simander finished in eighth in

Boys 3200 Meter Run with a time of 10:44.96.

The Wolves finished the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles with a 10th place finish of Akio Ohomoto-Frederick, 46.43 2.

In the Boys 4×400 Meter Relay,

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academ finished fourth at 3:48.17 2.

Rounding out things for the Wolves was the Boys 4×800 Meter Relay team that finished with a second place time of 8:34.34.
