Danish and Robinson carry Trojans to Victory!

By: Joshua Yoder
MOUNT UNION – The Dynamic Duo of Bryce Danish and JaSaun Robinson led the way as Mount Union started the season off with a 35-6 victory over Tussey Mountain Friday night.
The Trojans got on the board first, but it wasn’t the points that they were aiming for as Robinson managed to get into the end zone but a holding penalty killed the touchdown and they were forced to kick a field goal from 27 yards to go up 3-0.
However, the Titans responded on their next possession as junior quarterback Landon Myers rocketed a pass to his senior receiver Collin Gillis for a 69 yard touchdown pass to take the lead. But the point after attempt was blocked leaving it 6-3.
But from there on out it was all Mount Union. It started as time had expired in the first quarter when quarterback Danish broke loose and hustled his way into the end zone for a 34 yard run. Danish also made the extra point to give the Trojans a 10-6 lead.
Robinson then took his turn and blasted out an 11 yard run for the score. Danish and Robinson connected later on in the period as Danish found himself in a scramble but managed to find Robinson for 32 yards for the touchdown. This gave Mount Union a 23-6 lead at the half.
The Trojans then tacked on two more touchdowns in the second half. Both of which were from Robinson. The first came during the third quarter with Robinson breaking to the outside basically thundering past the Titan defense for a 20 yard touchdown.
The next came in the fourth quarter where again Robinson found the hole and never looked back for a 32 yard touchdown run.
Robinson had as many yards in the second half alone as Tussey Mountain had as a team with 98 yards. For the whole game Robinson ran for 106 yards from 13 carries to go along with his three rushing touchdowns. Robinson had that one catch for 32 yards which was also a touchdown and defensively collected an interception.
While Robinson controlled the second half, quarterback Danish dominated during the first half and out gained the Titans compiling 215 total yards. 158 of those yards came on the ground while 57 were from the air. Danish had a rushing touchdown as well as a passing touchdown.
Tussey Mountain was held to just 136 total yards in the first half with most came from the air as Landon Myers who went 3-for-13 for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Tussey Mountain starts off the year at (0-1) and will look to rebound next Friday as the Titans will be on the road again as they head to Three Springs to due battle with the Southern Huntingdon Rockets.
Meanwhile, Mount Union starts (1-0) will also be hitting the road next Friday as the Trojans will head out to face the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers. Both games will be at 7 p.m.
