East Juniata offense explodes for 81-72 victory

In a high scoring TVL contest, the Wast Juniata boys outlasted rival Nothumberland 81- 72 Saturday night.

Leading the way for the Tigers was 

Xavier Clement with a game-high 38 points. Teammate Wayne Dressler added 18 while Andrew Hunter chipped in with 10.

Northumberland’s Aaron Knauss also finished with 38 while teammate Dave King had 15 and Collin York finished with 12.

In the opening period, Northumberland opened up the offense early, outscoring EJ 19-11.

The visitors were led by King with a 9-point effort. East Juniata got five from Clement. 

In the second, the momentum shifted to East Juniata’s side as they posted 29 while Northumberland managed only 14. 

Clement again led the way with 15 while Northumberland’s leader was York with six.

When the two teams went into the intermission, East Juniata 40-33.

It was a back and fourth quarter in the third as the Tigers outscore Northumberland 13-12.

Despite posting 27 in the final stanza, the Tigers finished the fourth with 28 giving them the victory.
