EJ boys pick up early TVL win over Newport

The East Juniata boys continued its winning ways defeating Newport Thursday night 45-29 in an early Tri-Valley League match up. 

High Scorers for EJ were Bryce Martin who posted a 9-point effort. Teammates Evan Reichenbach & Andrew Hunter both chipped in with 7-point performances.

Leading the way for Newport Phil Washing with eight.

The Tigers offense was sizzling in the first period, plastering an 18-2 showing.

Martin, Wayne Dressler and Andrew Hunter all led the way with four points each.

In the second, Newport reversed the momentum as its defense shut down EJ outlasting them 9-5 in the scoring department.

However, the Tigers would take a 23-11 advantage into the intermission.  

Coming out of the break, the Tigers offense began to shine again posting 15 while its defense held the Buffaloes to eight.

Going into the final stanza, East Juniata again we’re outscored 10-7 but it was too little, too late as the Maroon and white dominated the night.

In JV action, the Tigers also notched a 34-26 victory.
