HWF and Dream Center team up to fight addiction

LEWISTOWN – The stars of the HWF have joined forces with the Dream Center in order to bring awareness and a way to end addiction in the first annual Overdose Awareness event that was held over at REC Park on Saturday.
According to the owner of the Dream Center Chad Curry, this event was fueled through the power of Jesus Christ and looks to bring hope to anyone in Mifflin County who are struggling with addiction and others who are also affected by addiction and mental health.
There were plenty of others who joined in on the fight which included organizations like the Together with Veterans who look to aid veterans who are struggling when they return home. The Lumina Center which offers after school programs in a safe environment for the youth. The Juniata Valley Crisis which provides mental health services for Mifflin County. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention which also provides services for people who struggle with mental health issues. And finally Jeremy’s Journey which helps provide educate and a place for those who are in need of help with addiction and provides help with recovery.

There were also performances from bands such as Stars Burn Down and Not Ashamed Music Ministries. A few people also provided their stories and spoke at the event which included Martha Leister of Tri-County Drug and Alcohol, Kelly Dibert of Huntingdon and Matt TRK Silks himself spoke at the event and also gave tribute to his late friend Chip Jabs.
HWF also provided an exhibition for the people at the event as well where four matches took place.
