Juniata 20-point third quarter lifts Indians to win over rival Tigers

MIFFLINTOWN – In their first meeting of the season, the Juniata and East Juniata boys basketball team had its defenses on high alert.

In the end, the Indians would top the Tigers 46-31.

Leading the way offensively for Juniata were Jamie Bailor with a game high 18 points and Jacob Condos 9-point effort.

East Juniata’s high scorer was Billy Dressler with nine.

Early in the first quarter, East Juniata outscored Juniata 4-2. Posting the Tigers points were Brody Powell (2) and Logan Wagner (2). The Indians got their points from Jace White (2).

In the second quarter, the Juniata offense exploded for 16 points while its defense allowed just eight East Juniata points.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Indians led 18-10.

Coming out of the break, Juniata continued to sizzle, posting another 20 points. Condo sparked the offense with all of his nine points.

Again, the Tigers were held to single digits, this time they finished with six points in the period.

When the game went into the final stanza, Juniata led comfortably 38-16.

East Juniata made a last ditch effort for a comeback but came up just short despite outscoring Juniata in the fourth.
