Juniata Boys XC finishes seventh overall at BVI

The Juniata boy’s cross country team improved their overall team placing from last year at the Big Valley Invitational on Saturday, August 31 in Reedsville, PA.  They finished 7th overall and were 3rd in the AA varsity race.  Garrett Baublitz lead the way with a 2nd place finish in the boy’s AA race with a time of 16:29.  Clay Yeager had a PR with a time of 17:36 which placed him 5th in the AA race.  Other varsity runners were:
James Hazard – 25th – 18:56
Isaak Fausey –  36st – 19:32
Brody Powell – 39th – 19:36
Micah Fausey- 52nd – 20:08
Will Tyson – 56st – 20:10 (PR)
In the boy’s JV race Juniata was lead by freshman Tim Kelly placing 55th overall with a time of 22:25.  Also competing in the JV race were Noah Sheaffer – 64th – 23:14 (PR) and Kaleb Louder – 106st – 29:59.
Coach Jeff Miller was pleased with their improvements from last year. “ I am looking forward to seeing what they can do two months from now at Districts, which will be on the same course as BVI,” said Miller.
The girl’s varsity race had three new comers this year to the cross country team.  Competing in the AA for the girls were Julia Burns – 53rd – 31:06, Katie Hart – 54th – 31:08, and Joceline Telfer – 56st – 35:38.
Coach Miller said the girls did well considering this was their first cross country race ever.  “They are a nice addition to the team and I am looking forward to seeing what improvements they make this cross country season,” said Miller.
Juniata will compete at Bald Eagle on Thursday, September 5.
