Juniata Christian tops Christian School of York 12-2

MCALISTERVILLE – The tag team of Peyton Burd and Annika Martin powered the Juniata Christian Lions over the Christian School of York Defenders by the final score of 12-2 in a non-league girls soccer game.
The Lions showed a lot of efficiency on the offensive side of the ball scoring over fifty percent scoring 12 goals on just 20 shots on goal. The duo of Burd and Martin combined for 11 of 12 total goals.
Five of those goals for Juniata Christian came during the first half of the match. Four of them were scored by Burd. In fact, Burd scored the first three goals of the game giving her a hat trick. Martin then scored the next goal before Burd knocked in her fourth goal to give the Lions a 5-0 lead at the break.
It didn’t take for Juniata Christian to get on the scoreboard in the second half, as just ten seconds into the half, Burd put the ball in the back of the net. Burd then struck again, getting her sixth goal to complete the double hat trick.
Martin then scored the next two goals to collect herself a hat trick before Erin Sheaffer scored a goal. Martin and then Burd would each add one more goal to finish the game off.
Overall Burd led the Lions with seven goals and an assist, while Martin added another four goals and also had three assists.
Juniata Christian is now (4-2) and will be gearing up for their fourth game in the week against Columbia County Christian today.
