Juniata sizzles early; falls late to Halifax

Thursday night, the Juniata softball team lost a heartbreaking 10-9 loss to Tri-Valley League foe Halifax.

Juniata pounded out 14 hits despite the loss.

Halifax ripped the ball as well as it finished with 12.

Offensively, Maci Kreider finished with a 3-hit effort. Teammates Mia Rush, Ally Misal and Presley Goodwin all had multi-hit games, finishing with two hits apiece.

Misal also pounded out five RBIs. Teammate Kreider had two.

Addy Adair was the hard luck loser on the afternoon in the close contest.

The Lady Indians opened the game with a 5-run first inning.

Halifax scored a run in the third to cut it to a 4-run deficit.

Juniata added onto its lead in the fifth with four more runs, increasing the lead to 9-1.

But in the bottom of the inning, the wheels started to come off of the Indians defense as the Wildcats posted six in the fifth. They continued their scoring in the six with two in the sixth and one in the seventh for the victory.
