Lady Rams fall in extra innings

Thr Penns Valley Lady Rams  fell 5-3 to Bishop Carroll on Wednesday despite outhitting them eight to five. Sydnie Dalton led Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity with three hits.

Bishop Carroll opened the scoring in the second after an error scored one run.

Katelyn Rowkotsky grounded out, which helped the Lady Rams  tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.

A solo home run to center field by A Heinrich gave Bishop Carroll the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.

Taylor Bumgardner hit into a double play, which helped Penns Valley tie the game at two in the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Bishop Carroll broke up the tie, scoring one run. Then a double by E Olienyk followed to extend the lead to 5-2.

Elle Dinges started the game for the Lady Rams . They surrendered five hits and five runs (four earned) over eight innings, striking out 11 and walking five. Meyers stepped in the circle first for Bishop Carroll.

They allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking one.

Bumgardner, Rowkotsky, and Lilyana Treweek each drove in one run for Penns Valley. Dinges collected two hits for the Lady Rams in four at bats. Scotty Dinges stole two bases.

Olienyk seized on their opportunities, leading Bishop Carroll with two runs.

Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Bishop Carroll turned two double plays in the game.
