Lady Rams knock out Undefeated number one seed Marion Center, plays for D6 title

Down goes the top seed!! Down goes Marion Center!!!

Penns Valley hurler Kendra Bumgardner threw a one-hit masterpiece as she helped her team defeat top seeded Marion Center. 7-0 sending the Lady Rams to the District 6 championship game against Mount Union The game was also filled defensive gems that kept the Marion Center bats quiet and the runners off the base paths.

The game was once again played on the road, this time at Marion Center.

Bumgardner finished with an 8-strike out and two walks performance to go along with a lone Marion Center hit.

Losing pitcher on the night was Jasmine Hill  as she managed one strikeout, eight hits, two walks, and a hit batter.

The loss was the first one of the season for the top seed.

Early on Avelyn VanHeyst blasted a two-run smash to get the ball rolling for the Lady Rams, coming in the second inning.

They visitors plated a third run in the third, extending the lead to 3-0.

Penns Valley added two more runs in the fifth and sixth, making it a 7-0 contest.

From there, the Rams closed things out and punched their ticket to the big game!

Offensively, the Lady Rams were led by Allie O’Brien (2 singles, triple, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, stolen base),

Avery Dinges (run scored, stolen base) Bumgardner (single, 2 RBIs),

Ellie Coursen (single, double, RBI), Kailen Winkelblech (run scored), Van Heyst (HR, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored) and Scotty Dinges (single, run scored).

Penns Valley will now play for the District 6 Championship on June 3rd at St. Francis against the winner of Mt. Union and Claysburg
