State College outlasts Chambersburg in Friday Showdown

The State College Little Lions baseball team easily dispatched Chambersburg on Friday, 8-1.

The Little Lions opened the scoring in the first after Sebastian Rhoades grounded out, scoring one run.

State College extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Michael Powell and Jake Hall.

Samuel Janik earned the win for The Little Lions. The righty surrendered three hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Diaz took the loss for Chambersburg. They went five and one-third innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on six hits, striking out six and walking three.

Cody Norman pitched one inning of no-run ball for State College in relief. The left-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Hall led the Little Lions with three runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. State College turned one double play in the game.

Deneen, Diaz, and Vasquez each collected one hit for Chambersburg. Deneen led Chambersburg with one run batted in. They went 1-for-4 on the day. Chambersburg turned one double play in the game.

Next up for State College is a game at Cedar Cliff on Tuesday.
