It was one for the record books.

Needing less than 10 points to reach the 1,000-point mark, Bellefonte’s Ben McCartney notched the milestone early on in the first quarter en route to a 24-point effort and his name etched into the Red Raider history books.

McCartney helped lead his team to a 69-44 victory over East Juniata Wednesday night.

Teammate Isiah Nadolsky followed with a 12-point effort while Shaun Carey added 11.

East Juniata also finished with three players in double figures.

They were Billy Dressler and Xavier Clement both with 13.

Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Tanner Barth with 10.

East Juniata was held to single digits in the second quarter as well, posting seven while the Red Raiders tallied 15. McCartney again was the leading scorer in the period, posting six.

Going into the half, the Red Raiders lead East Juniata 35-15.

The Tigers were outscored 13-7 in the period.

But East Juniata didn’t go down without a fight as it outscored Bellefonte 22-21 in a losing effort.
