Penns Valley softball shuts out Clearfield

Penns Valley Hurler Kendra Bumgardner’s nine strikeouts led the Penn Valley softball team to a one-hitter and 5-0 blanking of Clearfield.

Taking the loss for Clearfield was Emma Hipps. Hipps finished with eight strikeouts in a losing effort.

Offensively, the Lady Rams finished with 10 hits in the contest while Clearfield could only manage one hit.

Penns Valley opened strong, posting two runs in the first and two in the third.

In the sixth, the Lady Rams added an insurance run en route to the shut out.

Leading the offense for Penns Valley were Allie O’Brien (single, double), Avery Dinges (HR, run scored, RBI), Kendra Bumgarder (run scored), Noelle Webb (2 singles, 2 runs scored), Jordan Anderson (single), Ellie Coursen (2 doubles, run scored, RBI) and Avelyn Van Heyst (2 doubles, 3 RBIs).
