PV boys take care of Central to improve to 1-1

The Penns Valley boys soccer team doubled up Central – Martinsburg Tuesday in a 6-3 contest.

Central opened up the score in the 9th minute and put PV on our heels for a while. We got off to a slow start as my guys are still getting used to some new tactics and strategies with a new coach. After getting past the early game jitters, we did better but really didn’t hit our stride until the final minute of the first half when Zach finished the equalizer,” said Penns Valley Coach Ken Gore said. “That goal gave us the momentum we needed going into the 2nd half (along with an intense half time talk) and we really tightened up the defense and midfield and kept a lot of pressure on the attack for most of the 2nd half. It paid off well as we won the 2nd half 4-1 and tallied our first conference win for the 2019 season.”

Central’s Colin Rupert got the scoring started posting an unassisted goal at 9:20.

Penns Valley’s Zach Heckman tied the game thanks to an assist from Caleb Narber at 15:44.

Back came the Dragons as Central’s Colin Rupert took back the advantage at 36:55.

Heckman tied the contest at two with his second goal at 39:20.

Penns Valley’s Caleb Narber hit consecutive goals to give his team a 4-2 advantage with goals at 41:25 and 53:46.

Teammate Seth Hall added to the lead of an assist by Caleb Narber at 67:23.

Penns Valley rounded out the scoring when Aidan Culver found the back of the net at 77:52.
