State College Spikes top the Keys 8-4

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Frederick Keys wrapped up A 3-game series against the State College Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park In State College.

The First two runs were scored off of wild pitches from the Frederick’s pitcher Chen Wel Lin.

State college racked up 11 hits In the 8-4 victory over the Frederick Keys. The home half of the sixth inning Ethan Mendoza drove In a 3- run triple to break the game wide open.

The Spikes Bullpen pitched six scoreless innings. The only runs for Frederick Sunday came in the second and third innings.

The first two runs came off of a Spikes’ fielding error by second baseman Ethan Mendoza In the third inning. Irvin Escobar would answer with a single scoring Jevin Relaford, Luca Danos putting the Keys ahead of State College.

Kyle Huckstorf had a great showing on the base paths with two stolen bases on the nigh. His teammate Bryce Matthews followed up with his own two stolen bases on the night. Frederick had plenty of opportunities to score but it led to two double plays late in the game that helped keep the Keys off The Board. Frederick was 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Tonight in the loss a costly pickoff at play proved to be costly late in the game all of that added up which ended up in a loss for the Keys. Ryan Ward got the win on the mound for State College. Ty Buckner pitched an inning, striking out two hitters. State College recorded 11 Strikeouts.

State College only walked one Keys Batter.

Sunday that walk came From Matthew Linskey back in the seventh inning sending Yoyo Nunez to first base.

Despite the four errors from State College, the bats made up for it with a clutch hit from Mendoza In the bottom of the six inning would Be enough for a Spikes to get the victory to get back Into the win column to Improve to 5-4 on the season.

State college will get the day off. The Spikes will start a 6 game road trip
