Field Hockey

State College 1, Mifflin County 0

STATE COLLEGE – The State College girls field hockey team evened the score against Mid-Penn Commonwealth rival Mifflin County.

The Little Lions squeaked out a 1-0 victory to even the season series at one. In the 1st half, Paige Meily picked a pass from Anna Reapsome with :57 left before the intermission. Mifflin County outshot State College 9-2 while the Little Lions held a 9-7 advantage in corner opportunities. In the JV contest, Mifflin County took home the victory 3-1.

The two teams will meet again on October 22^nd at State College for the District 6 title.

Girls Volleyball

Mifflin County vs. Upper Dauphin (3-2) The Lady Huskies volleyball team pulled through in 5 sets to win over Upper Dauphin! Mifflin County was down the first two sets, but rallied to fight through the last three sets to victory.

“Our communication increased on the court after the 2 set, which decreased many of the simple errors,” Mifflin County coach Jill Zeger said. “We controlled our game and the ladies showed much determination and maturity on the court tonight. They did a nice job seeing the opponent’s court and making smart plays. I’m proud of the way the ladies played tonight and the growth that is being displayed on the court!” Picking up strong finishes for Mifflin County were; Jenna Snyder – 6 kills, 14 service points with 3 ACES, 5 assists, Anna Aurand – 9 kills, 3 digs, 16 service points with 10 ACES, Chloe Benner – 7 digs, 7 service points with 2 ACES, Shania Teenie – 1 kill, 4 digs, 7 service points with 2 ACES,Demma Franklin – 5 digs, 9 service points with 1 ACE, Kierra Imler – 1 kill, 4 digs, 2 service points with 1 ACE, Bryn Ferguson – 6 kills, 1 solo block, Hailee Weader – 2 digs, 5 service points with 2 ACES and Katie Hassinger – 2 kills. JV scores: 14-25,25-22,6-25 (1-2) Varsity scores: 16-25,15-25,25-8,25-20,15-2 (3-2) The Huskies record is (1-4) in the TVL and (2-11) in the Mid Penn Next Game: Thursday away against Carlisle.
