Walters shines for Juniata College at River Hawk Classic

Selinsgrove , Pa.- The Juniata men’s track & field team competed in the Susquehanna River Hawks Classic today.

 

In the field, Thayer Phillips (Cuddy, Pa. / South Fayette) took first in the javelin marking, 52.05m while Barrett Walters (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata HS) placed second marking, 50.45m. In the high jump, Brenden Gardner (Muncy, Pa. / Hughesville) claimed first marking, 1.73m.

 

Phillips placed third in the shot put marking, 11.52m. In the hammer throw, Brenden Nauman (Myerstown, Pa. / ELCO) placed fifth (35.82m) and Walters placed sixth (33.32m). In the discus, Philips placed fifth throwing, 34.07m and Walters placed sixth throwing, 33.33m.

 

In the 400m hurdles, Gardner took home another first place. Gardner came in with a time of 58.54 while Devon Angermeier (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) placed second with a time of 1:04.72. Gardner claimed his third first place in the 110m hurdles as he finished with a time of 16.16.

 

In the 4×100, the team of Noah Zolnak (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS), Gardner, Angermeier, and Nauman placed second with a time of 46.90. In the 100m, Zolnak finished sixth coming in with a time of 11.92. Zolnak finished fifth in the 200m with a time of  25.01. In the 500m, Ellis Kline (Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis HS) finished fourth (17:22.86) while Max Scott (Chestertown, Md. / The Gunston Day School) finished closely behind in fifth (17:24.03).

 

Juniata will host an invitational, Saturday, April 24th.
