Bellefonte baseball continues its Playoff run with a 14-0 victory

Bellefonte’s Dominic Capperella shut down St. Marys, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Red Raiders baseball team to a 14-0 victory on Wednesday.

Trevor Johnson led Bellefonte to victory by driving in four runs.  Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Johnson drove in runs on a home run in the second and a in the fifth.

The Red Raiders opened up scoring in the first inning, when Peyton Vancas doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

A single by Vinnie Lenze in the fourth inning was a positive for St. Marys.

Capperella was the winning pitcher for Bellefonte. Capperella surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out five and walking one.

Lucas Bauer took the loss for St. Marys. The hurler surrendered six runs on four hits over two-thirds of an inning.

Bellefonte socked one home run on the day. Johnson had a dinger in the second inning.

The Red Raiders saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game.  Vancas, Johnson, Josh Brown, and Capperella all managed multiple hits for Bellefonte. Vancas went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Red Raiders in hits.  Bellefonte didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jacob Corman had  five chances in the field, the most on the team.

Lenze led St. Marys with one hit in two at bats.  St. Marys didn’t commit a single error in the field. Carter Redmond had the most chances in the field with three.
