Bellefonte pushes Hollidaysburg to brink before falling by two points

BELLEFONTE – The Bellefonte volleyball team took Hollidaysburg to the brink Thursday forcing a fifth and final set.

With the match tied at two wins each, the two would battle to the very end where the Tigers came out the winners of a 16-14 contest.

Leading the offensive punch was Carlee Pepperman. Pepperman was the spark that the Raiders needed in crunch time, blasting her way through the Hollidaysburg front line.

In the end the Tigers would come out winners of a hard fought 3-2 match victory, 25-17, 23-25, 25-12, 19-25, 16-14.

Trailing 2-1, Bellefonte was able to scratch and scrape their way past the Tigers after falling behind 19-15.

But the Raiders made its move after getting the ball on a side out.

From there, Tayla Miller heated up at the serving line posting nine consecutive service points to take the victory from the jaws of defeat. Pepperman and Grace Novitsky created a problem for the Hollidaysburg front line, pushing the ball past them to also help their team come out with a hard fought 25-19 win.

After forcing the match to a fifth and final game, Bellefonte continued to battle throughout but the Tigers also had an answer for everything the Raiders threw at the them.

Pepperman had a hand in five separate points in the game as the two went toe-to-toe.

But Hollidaysburg would get the momentum late, putting the game away at 16-14 on consecutive points.
