Frontz posts five hits in double dip win over Wolves

MIFFLINTOWN- The Lady Indians continues its assault on opponent pitching.

Juniata improved to 12-0 on the season as the fifth ranked softball team in the state swept Saint Joseph Academy in a double header 15-0 and 25-3.

In the first contest, the afternoon belonged to the Lady Indians hitter Lexi Frontz. Frontz went a perfect 3-for-3 in the first game. She finished with three RBIs and three runs scored. Highlighting the game for Frontz was an early double in the contest. The Indians slugger posted her 100th career hit in the double-dip versus the Wolves.

Juniata hurler Liz Gaisior tossed a no-hitter in the process. Gaisior finished with nine strike outs in the four inning contest. She also was a tough out at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 2RBIs and a run scored.

Other multiple hitter for Juniata were Savannah Marshall and Ashley Piper.

Offensively, the Lady Indians posted 13 hits in the game.

The Indians made a statement right off the bat, posting a 10-run first inning to get the offense warmed up.

After a scoreless second, Juniata posted two in the third and three in the fourth.

In game two, Frontz continued her hot hitting posting a 2-for-3 game in her team’s 24-3 victory over a young Wolves team.

Hurler Kalynn Brown picked up the win for Juniata. Brown scattered six hits and allowed three runs to pick up the win.

Liz Gaisior, S Smith and Savannah Marshall joined Frontz with multiple hits on the night.

Juniata opened the first with six runs.

After holding the Wolves scoreless in the first, the Lady Indians rallied for 11 more.

Juniata added seven more in the third.

But the Wolves refused to give up as they picked up three runs in the bottom of the third.

But it would be too little too late as the Lady Indians remained undefeated.
