Mifflin County Claims Victory Over West Perry

The Mifflin County Huskies were victorious against West Perry 8-5 on Friday.

West Perry got on the board in the first inning after Addie Wiest singled, scoring one run.

A ground out by Shay Dyer extended the West Perry lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

The Huskies flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Malaina Maxwell that drove in two.

Macy Pietch earned the win for Mifflin County. They allowed seven hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Wiest took the loss for the Mustangs. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking none.

Mifflin County accumulated 10 hits in the game. Dakota Hershberger provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mifflin County Varsity Huskies with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Hershberger, Savannah Powell, and Alexis O’Brien each collected two hits for the Huskies.

Taylor Lupfer went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead West Perry in hits. The Mustangs turned one double play in the game.

Next up for Mifflin County is a game at Red Land on Monday.
