Former Special Needs Bulldog Renninger will be missed

BURNHAM – The Burnham Bulldogs (Keystone) Special Needs football team were saddened to hear about the passing of one of its veteran players and Hall of Famer over the weekend, Eddie “Fast Eddie” Renninger at the young age of 51.

Eddie was the one of the early original Bulldogs that started back in the early part of the millennium.

Eddie was one of the team’s running backs and middle linebackers on the squad.

“Eddie was one of our quiet players but could light up the room with his infectious laugh,” said Bulldog’s coach Kenny Varner. “He was one of those type of players who always gave 110 percent every time he stepped on the field and never argued or questioned anything you asked him to do for you. He will be truly missed.”

Eddie’s number 33 will be retired by the team and he will be inducted into this year’s team Hall of Fame.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones,” said Varner. “ He was a very special part of our team.”
