Lady Raiders fall to tough Hollidaysburg team

The Bellefonte girls basketball team went head-to-head with a very talented Hollidaysburg team Monday night but came up short, falling 68-34.

Marin Miller led all scorers with a 29-point effort.

Another Tiger finished in double-digit scorers was Allison Hileman with 12.

Sara DeHaas was the Lady Raiders’ leading scorer with 12 while teammate Maddie Tice had 11.

“We ran into a buzz saw as Hollidaysburg just couldn’t miss,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer said. “We were beat mostly in transition as I felt our half court defense was pretty good. It’s a tough one to take but I think we will be better for it.”

Hollidaysburg got off to a quick start outscoring Bellefonte 18-8.

Things continued to go the Tigers way in the second as they once again held the Lady Raiders to single digit scoring, 15-6.

Hollidaysburg has a very secure advantage going into the third quarter, leading 33-14.

Things didn’t fare much better for Bellefonte in the third as once again the Tigers outscored the Red Raiders, this time 22-12.

In the final stanza, the Lady Tigers continued its scoring spree with a 13-8 period en route to the victory.
