Lady Raiders outlast Lady Rams

The Penns Valley Girls Basketball team lost Tuesday night to a fiesty Bellefonte team 44-38. 1/28/20.

Penns Valley was led by Lydia Collison as she finished as the high scorer with 12 points.

Katie Martell second high scorer for the Rams with eight points while Hannah Montminy was third high scorer with five points.

Bellefonte’s offense was driven by Mia Johnson with 11 points.

“I am so proud of what this team was able to accomplish. It was a full 32 minute effort and we were able to defeat a very good Penns Valley team on their home court,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “Penns Valley made a run at the end but we stayed poised and we hit our free throws when we needed to most.”

Bellefonte came out of the first quarter and outscored the Rams 10-7.

It would be a closer second quarter as the Lady Raiders 6-5.

Both teams played to a 12-12 stalemate, sending the Lady Raiders up 28-24.

Rounding out the contest, Bellefonte finished things off by outscoring Penns Valley 16-14 en route to the victory.

With the loss Penns Valley’s Overall Record dips to 8-9 and a Mountain League Record of 5-6

Next game up for Penns Valley is Friday, January 31st @ Clearfield. JV @ 6 & Varsity @ 7:30.

Bellefonte takes on Huntingdon, January 31st.
