MC girls battle tough against Carlisle, falls 3-0

LEWISTOWN – The MIfflin County girls soccer team opened up its 2023 edition in a home contest against a very seasoned Carlisle team.

The young Huskies squad kept things close in the first, taking the Thundering Herd into the second half tied. But the Herd came back with three goals in the second, spoiling the Huskies debut 3-1.

The Huskies back line consisting of. Rylee Retherford, Lillie Markley, Hailie Alexander also held strong and so was the first half performance by MC goalie stopping almost constant pressure in the first half.

Carlisle cut the field in half for much of the second half, that helped led to an early goal by the Herd.

Just minutes into the second half, Abby Reisinger snuck an early one in for Carlisle at 38:58.

Less than 15 minutes later, teammate Maia Iannuzzi hit goal number two.

Rounding out the scoring for Carlisle was Emily Leatherman, ending the scoring at 3-0.
