MIfflin County girls outmuscle Waynesboro
The MIfflin County girls soccer team inched closer to reaching the .500 mark in Mid-Penn League action Tuesday as they muscled out a 5-3 win over Waynesboro.
MIfflin County’s Sarah Henry started the scoring with a goal off of an assist by Aubrey Strohecker 23:06.
Strohecker, who finished with a hat trick, took her turn as Henry returned the favor sending her a pass and she scored off of it at 29:57.
Waynesboro’s Sevannah Perkins cut into the Lady Huskies lead with an unassisted goal.
Early in the second half, Waynesboro’s Kiki Pryor tied things at two on a lone goal at 50:57.
But Strohecker and company were relentless as she scored off of a Brynn Knepp pass at 61:05 to go ahead 3-2.
Henry upped the lead to 4-2 off another pass from Strohecker at 65:30.
Waynesboro fought back when Grace French hit an unassisted goal at 66:19.
But Strohecker put the game on ice as she blasted a goal thanks to another Brynn Knepp pass at 79:05.
MIfflin County outshot Waynesboro 24-18 and led in corner kicks 5-4.
MIfflin County goalie Bailey McNitt saved 15 shots while Waynesboro’s Kiaya Mouer tallied 19.
Mifflin County is now 3-4 in league action and 3-6 overall.
The Lady Huskies next game is on 10/21 at home vs Palmyra.
In JV action, MIfflin County survived a 1-0 victory.
The lone MIfflin County goal came from Tressie Bender.
