Spikes fall on road to Keys

The State College Spikes Started a Three Game Series In Frederick Maryland at Nymeo Field to take on the Frederick Keys. State College took an early 2-0 lead over Frederick.

The Home Run ball proved to be too much for State College as the Keys defeated the Spikes 14-9.

Nate Lamb gave the Keys four innings while giving up two hits three runs walking two batters, striking out five batters In the win over State College.

The Frederick bats made up for the four errors from the Keys defense.

Frederick hit three home runs in the game.

The first homerun of the game was on the first pitch as Bryce Arnold smashed a 338 foot homer to lead off the home half of the first Inning. Other two Homers came from AJ Shaver and Kendrey Maduro.

Shaver led the team in Runs batted in tonight with three of the twelve runs batted in.

State College struggled on the mound tonight walking eight Keys batters. The Spikes struck out five batters In the loss.

Zimmer had a rough night for State College taking the loss for the Spikes so did his other teammates that took the Mound in relief,  giving up 12 hits 14 runs and 13 Earned runs walking five Sending down five via the strikeout while giving up three Home runs. The Spikes started Gabe Starks. Starks gave up six hits, seven runs while walking three batters sending down two batters via the strike out.

Starks also gave up two home runs.

State college went 6-12 as a team with runners in scoring position leaving six runners left on base.

On the defensive side, the Spikes had one defensive error caused by Addison Smith. Smith was charged with throwing miscue In the Bottom of the seventh.

Maduro Would Cap the night off in the Home half of the eighth with a two-run Homerun.

The Spikes would have one more chance, Smith singled to the outfield. Chase Call reached on a throwing error to put runners on second and third Bufford would go down swinging.

Luke Napleton lined out to Brennan Orf And the Spikes rally would Come up short as the Keys get their 8th Win Of the season. Spikes Will take On the Keys Tomorrow At 6:00 pm In Frederick Maryland At Nymeo Field.
