MC15s start strong but falls to Centre County

MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-5 loss to Centre County on Monday. Centre County scored on a single by Teagan Runkle, a groundout by Cam Lucas, and a single by Branden Miller in the first inning.

The MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Centre County, giving up 15 runs.

Centre County opened up scoring in the first inning. Centre County scored two runs when Runkle singled.

Centre County scored six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by Centre County was led by Parker VanGundan, Connor Perry, Runkle, Isaac Gall, Lucas, and Jude Rhymer, all driving in runs in the inning.

Lucas earned the win for Centre County. Lucas allowed eight hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out three. Runkle threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Runkle recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Centre County.

Evan Strohecker took the loss for MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars. The lefty lasted one inning, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out two and walking one.

MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars collected eight hits. Logan Ruth and Chase Leister all managed multiple hits for MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars. Ruth led MC Babe Ruth 15U All-Stars with three hits in three at bats.

Centre County racked up 13 hits. Runkle and Gall each had multiple hits for Centre County. Runkle went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Centre County in hits. Centre County tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Bradley Mishock led the way with two.
